presidential debate. jessica, thanks. also in new york city mitt romney speaking at the clinton global initiative just ahead of the president. romney focused on foreign policy as well vowing he would link u.s. foreign aid to trade with help going to developing countries that remove barriers to investment and trade. he also discussed unrest in the middle east and said he would have a different approach than president obama. >> a lot of americans including myself are developed -- excuse me, are troubled by developments in the middle east. syria has witnessed the killing of tens of thousands of people. the president of egypt is a member of the muslim brotherhood. our em bass dor to libya was assassinated in a terrorist attack. iran is moving towards nuclear weapons capability. we somehow feel that we're at the mercy of events rather than shaping events. a year from now i hope to return this meeting as president having made substantial progress towards the forms i've outlined. i also hope to remind the world of the goodness and the bigness of the american heart. never apologize for america
